Boardman State Park is a spectacular stretch of rocky overlooks and uncluttered beaches. There are numerous overlooks along the highway, but to fully appreciate the park requires taking a hike. The Oregon Coast Trail wanders through Boardman Park in a series of short--and often steep--arcs between viewpoints. Hiking the full length of the park is possible, usually on trail. One word of caution: travelling north generally means having the wind in your face. This is probably a larger issue for bicyclists on Highway 101, but it's worth considering starting from the north if you are a through hiker.
